The Miracle

Yes, it is true, something truly amazing has happened here at Clarence House Nursery. We have discovered some little stick insects that have hatched from a pile of eggs left here by the visiting stick insects (Green Beans with Legs post).
The thing is we did not attempt to hatch them and they were sort of forgotten about and put in a container in the office. So Ann Felice if you are reading this HELP – we are not sure what to feed them?? The big insects ate bramble leaves so we are going to try that. Oh and if they decided to breed like mad we will need homes for them. Just a warning!!

In the photo you see Jonah, Mora and Lucia taking a closer look.

Being Safe Outdoors

This afternoon we played outside, running in and out of this giant puddle in the garden. We are learning to move about safely outdoors and glad to say none of us got bumped or fell over into the puddle today!
Other things we did today were good hand washing before baking and following rules on the climbing frame.

Happy Diwali Everybody

Yes, today we celebrated Diwali in nursery. We have been very busy learning the Diwali story, making crowns, dancing with sticks and we also used the internet to find out more. This photographs is when we were dancing with the sticks with our crowns and saris.

Superheroes

Superheroes
Arthur came in to nursery wearing his superhero t-shirt today. This was all it took for the play to be centred around superheroes!!!
So later on in the afternoon the children planned and designed their own masks.
In the picture left to right you can see Jonah, Dathan and Arthur.

Games and Exercises

Image

This is one of the many games we play when we do our “exercises” every morning in nursery. Leo and Dylan are working together (co-operatively) – each one taking turns to hold the tin or roll the ball into the tin. This can be made easy (sit close and use a bigger ball) or it can be very, very difficult (sit far apart and use a small bouncy ball)! Staff can’t even do that one!! Games are changed every week so that the children get the opportunity to practice what they are learning to do.

Sticky but Nice!!!

ImageThis morning we all made our own strawberry and bramble jam. Here is Alistair doing the taste test!!

We collected some brambles growing over by the meadow and the strawberries came from Tesco!
We learned that strawberries go into mush when they are cooked and we also had a wee chat about dental hygiene and the implications of too much sugar.
