Does it Float?

The day had hardly begun when one of our learners created this amazing ship from construction materials. To extend the learning we asked if they thought it could float in water, they were not sure so we experimented right away and to everyone’s surprise and delight it was able to float. The child then asked if newspaper could float, they rolled up a little ball of paper and again we were amazed to find this also floated! This inspired some more ship building from the other children – looks like it’s going to be a day of finding out what floats.

It showed us how many unique factors shape how we see the world and how we can use our individuality to teach others. There was a large section on anti racist education which was very informative and gave us lots of food for thought.
